What We're Doing this Weekend. . . Vices I Admire

The Rocky Mountain News

The smartly dressed lads in Vices I Admirehave a lot going for them musically – they eschew the indie rock cliché-of-the-moment in favor of gut punchin' rock'n' roll, for one, and have the chops to make you feel every blow. Plus, they named their band after a Winston Churchill quote/insult: "He has all of the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire," which automatically makes them aces in Club Hop HQ's loose-leaf binder. Here's what occupies the erudite shredders' recent weekends:

What did you do over the weekend?

"Over the weekend, we here at Vices I Admire spread out. Dave (vocals, guitar) went to Oklahoma to pay respect to a departed relative. Rob (bass) and Mark (drums) checked out the Denver Art Rock Collective compilation release at the Walnut Room to support our buds in Yerkish. On Saturday Mickey (guitar) went up to Fort Collins to check out Tickle Me Pink, but instead spent most of his time in a loft curled up in a fetal position attempting to defeat millions of tiny viral attackers with rest and water. Mark, being the social butterfly that he is, was in attendance.

What do you have planned for this weekend?

"This weekend will be a wild time for the Vices crew. Mickey will be revved up to do almost anything after being so sick. Which is good because we plan on drinking all of the tequila in Mexico in honor of the new MTV series A Shot at Love with TilaTequila. We will not succeed. Or watch the show. But our true excitement stems from the fact that we will be rocking out at Hodi's Halfnote in Fort Collins on Sunday. Seeing as it is a Battle of the Bands, there has been contemplation on how to win without the use of Tanya Harding-inspired violence. Who knows, maybe we can squeeze by on our talent and fury
alone? We go on at 9:30p.m. and it is $5 for 21and over, $8 all ages. Find out directions and more info at vicesiadmire.com, or be our friends at www.myspace.com/vicesiadmire. We would love to see you there."
