We had an absolute blast on Friday in Fort Collins. Much thanks to all of our Fort Collins friends and Other Side of Clearview for inviting us to take part in the celebration of the release of their new album. If you haven’t checked out their new disc, Sweet Release, you should do so very soon. It sounds great! Talented bunch of young chaps they are. And their singer Matt could probably bench-press Mark, despite his love of all things delicious. Impressive.
 

Serious props to all our friends up north. We love you guys and you represented old school stylie (‘member the Plan b. parties? If you do I’m sure the memories are fuzzy at best). 
 

We just finalized the details on a show here at home. On Friday, June 19th you can catch us at the hi-dive (7 S. Broadway) with Vonnegut and the Archive. Both bands are most excellent. Check em out in our top friends. We enter the studio in t-minus 7 days. We are freakin’ stoked. The new disc will be out sometime in September. Stay tuned for details and send us good thoughts and love for the next few weeks. We’ll keep our antennas on.

May 13th, 2009 - Counting...

Welcome back, fans and friends and fiends and freaks. First and foremost, we’d like to thank everyone who came down to our first two shows back. We got to play some good tunes with some great bands, drink good drinks with some great friends and appreciate being able to play live again. 

We're now counting down the days until we enter the studio. The magic number, right now, is eleven. Days. Then the hard work bliss of Colorado Sound Studios will descend upon us for a couple of drudging day job free weeks. It’s going to be great. 

But before then we have the pleasure of sharing the stage with Other Side of Clearview for their cd release party! The show is ALL AGES and a copy of OSC’s new disc, Sweet Release, is included with admission. It sounds like a pretty wild event; the gentlemen in OSC have spared no expense and are bringing quite the spectacle to Hodi’s. We’ve been sworn so secrecy on the details but there may or may not be fire, roller coasters, arm-bound knife fighting and celebrity guests. Or maybe not. Or maybe. Either way, this is our first show in Fort Collins in 8 months and it will be so off the hook it may as well be on it. Joining forces in 2002 and cultivating their craft since, Denver-based Vices I Admire is back and ready to assault your auditory palate with their eclectic songbook. These lads have been prepping over the last few months to take the city by storm. Dropping off the radar after the loss of their bass player, “Things definitely slowed down a little,” conveys Mark Towne (drums, manager). Mark, Dave Curtis (vocals, guitar), and Mickey Dollar (lead guitar) stuck with it rehearsing while auditioning bass players. They found him in former Fray bassist, Dan Battenhouse:  Once again the band’s ready to deliver the goods.  “Practicing without a bass player was strange,” expresses Dave. “We found a good one.” Self-described as a high-energy Alt/Indie/Rock act, the group is ready to get back out on the club circuit after the brief layoff. 
The band has been refining their sound looking to court a larger following. “Our sound won’t be as aggressive as it previously was,” suggests Mickey. “We want to take our music to another level, appeal to those who really appreciate music for what it is,” a nod of agreement from all. With the talent level this troupe displays I have no doubt that the statement’s on target. “I really like the direction we’re going with the music,” maintains Dan. “We don’t want to sound explicitly like other bands in our genre.”
It’s been awhile since 2005’s Plan B EP, the band wasn’t sure what direction to move in after they released the CD. They were still up at CSU figuring things out, now they’re galvanized and they won’t be swayed from ascending to the top. They’ll be heading into the studio this month to lay down their second album, The Politics Of Apathy, with an anticipated late-summer release. JP Manza (engineer), along with Ian Pinder (producer), will be engaged to assist with bringing it all together. “Ian’s really challenged us to push ourselves, he’s been a major influence on our sound,” conveys Mark. 
They’ve posted a demo, “Heartbreaker,” a new tune along with their older pieces on Myspace.com/VicesIAdmire – give them a spin. By the time you’ve read this article they’ll already be back on the club scene dishing it out. When pressed about taking the act national they shot back with some advice from another band, “We don’t want to move the band; we need to own the city we’re in, everything else will fall into place in time.”  Get ready to be owned, Denver, these guys have the swagger.

Apr 28th, 2009 - Last Minute Show Added THIS THURSDAY @ Larimer Lounge w/ Dualistics & Solar Bear!

Hello Friends ~

We were just asked to fill a slot on a show THIS Thursday, April 30th by our pals in the Dualistics. We had planned on finishing up the doily we had been knitting together but we decided it could wait . . . for now.
We realize we JUST performed for all of you last Thursday and that we had promised it would be our last Denver performance before entering the studio (and you all delivered like champs). Well, we are a bunch of bloody liars. We couldn't resist the tastiness of the offer and we are stoked to be a part of such an excellent show! Dualistics and Solar Bear are both incredible bands.

Our first show was incredible! Thanks so much to all of you who came out and made a Thursday night the loudest, wildest, most exciting show I can remember playing in a long time!

Sofo, you guys were amazing! Even sans bassist, you guys put down some very attractive pieces. I would urge you to consider making an acoustic show an every-once-in-awhile gig. Not to mention the fact that you were all remarkably cool.

Yerkish, thanks so much for playing those delicious tunes. You know we love you, gosh darnit and now we're just going to have to hang out, like, all the time!

Ryan, ya owe me a screen printing trip.

All the fans, again, thanks for making the trip out late night Thursday and rocking the building to the ground. Keep your eyes peeled for us, we've got an album coming out in September and we'll be booking shows like madmen until then.
