Vices I Admire Announces the Release of Its Second Album

Denver-based rock band, Vices I Admire, will formally release The Politics of Apathy (their sophomore effort) on Friday, January 1 at the Bluebird Theatre in Denver, CO—3317 E. Colfax Avenue.

Old, new and soon-to-be fans may visit vicesiadmire.com beginning Friday, December 12 to download any and every song from the Vices catalog for free—sans album art and liner notes. Following the formal release the album will be available at live shows, in local record shops and as a name-your-price purchase (artwork and notes included) on their Web site.

The Politics of Apathy was recorded at Colorado Sound Studios from May to June this year. The album was engineered by JP Manza and produced by Ian Pinder. Manza—an accomplished engineer whose credits include Matisyahu, Yellowcard and Franz Ferdinand—was excited to work with Vices on their latest release.

"In the 5 years that I have been professionally producing and engineering albums for bands, I have never met a group that was more prepared, or better rehearsed or had a clearer vision for their project than Vices I Admire," Manza said, "the result was an album that consisted of well-written and well-performed songs; each one with its own stylistic and emotional contribution to the dynamic feel of the completed record."

From the dance-pop inspired, “Sweetest Girl”, to the anthemic head-banger, “Kiss Kiss”, The Politics of Apathy showcases Vices' diverse talent and musical maturation.

"[The Politics of Apathy] will force you to tap your foot, sing along and then hit the repeat button so you can do it again," said Manza.

Vices’ CD release is scheduled for 8pm on January 1, 2010 at the Bluebird Theater in Denver, CO (3317 E. Colfax Ave., P: 303-377-1666). Tickets are $5, and the show is all ages. Other Side of Clearview, The Pilot Light and Glass Delirium will join Vices I Admire on stage.

Vices I Admire Acquire Former The Fray Bassist After Six Month Search
Denver, Colorado - March 23 - After six months of searching, the Denver-based alternative-rock group, Vices I Admire, have acquired former The Fray bassist Dan Battenhouse. Vices is set to debut their new lineup and new material when they return to the stage on April 23 at Moe’s BBQ (3295 S. Broadway) in Denver.

After Robert Marston (their former bassist) left the group to pursue other interests, Vices I Admire held over twenty auditions in search of a musician capable of matching their level of ambition and musical style. "We are a tight-knit group that's been together for six years without any previous lineup changes," explains guitarist Mickey Dollar. "With that kind of history we had to be confident with our decision."

Drummer, Mark Towne, agrees, "We were looking for an extraordinary musician comfortable in multiple genres as well as a confident professional with a strong work ethic. We were lucky to find both in Dan."

Battenhouse - an accomplished bassist that recorded with The Fray on "The Reason" EP and won the "Best of Denver" award from Westword magazine in 2004 - brings his experience with electronic production, composition and remixing to further shape the band’s sound and expand upon their open approach to songwriting. For Battenhouse, "It is an exciting privilege to be part of a group with this kind of dedication, focus, and passion."

With the lineup set, Vices I Admire is deep in pre-production for their sophomore release, "The Politics of Apathy", due out this September. While the new music maintains much of the groove and grit of their first album, "Plan B" (2005), the new songs experiment with atmospheric electronics and outside instrumentation.

You can catch the notoriously energetic Vices I Admire with Dan Battenhouse on bass at Moe’s BBQ in Denver (3295 S. Broadway) on April 23rd and Hodi’s Halfnote in Fort Collins (67 N. College Ave) on May 15th. The shows will provide an opportunity for fans to hear some of the new music before the band enters Colorado Sound Studios with Jp Manza in May. For a limited time you can catch a sneak peek of a new song that will be included on the record, "Heartbreaker", recorded with Battenhouse in the band’s basement studio at http://www.myspace.com/vicesiadmire.
